A major step forward in launching construction of the new Mississauga Hospital
An important milestone has been reached for the future Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital: Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Trillium Health Partners (THP) reached financial close for the design, construction, financing, and maintenance of the project—combined with Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children—by awarding a fixed-price contract of $13.9 billion to ED+PCL Healthcare, paving the way for construction to begin.
Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes has been enthusiastically involved in the design of this mega hospital project since 2022, working alongside Ontario firms Parkin Architects and Adamson Associates Architects as part of a colossal team assembled by Designer-Builder-Operator EllisDon and PCL Construction in consortium (ED+PCL Healthcare Partners).
This impressive 2.8 million square feet project will completely replace the existing Mississauga hospital with state-of-the-art hospital facilities and technologies that will reflect new ways of providing health care and the most advanced standards in infection prevention and control, significantly improving access to care for patients and families in the region.
The project is being procured using a new progressive public-private partnership (P3) approach, which involves both a Development Phase Agreement and a design-build-finance-maintain P3 Project Agreement.
