Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes draws up a net zero review for 2023
Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes has completed its first carbon footprint review for 2023, reflecting its participation in a global mission to achieve net-zero carbon emissions and its commitment to sustainable development. Based on a structured approach involving an in-depth study of its scope 1, 2, and 3 * greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, as well as a process to offset these by acquiring certified carbon credits through renewable energy projects (transportation, waste management, energy efficiency), the firm is pleased to announce that it has achieved a carbon footprint of less than zero for 2023:
Total emissions : 178 tonnes of CO2e (scopes 1, 2, and 3)
Compensations : 200 tonnes of CO2e (acquisition of certified carbon credits)
Bilan net : -22 tonnes of CO2e
Energy performance
Our building exclusively uses hydroelectricity for heating, hot water, and air conditioning, eliminating any dependence on fossil fuels. This energy source enables us to limit considerably our greenhouse gas emissions in scopes 1 and 2 *.
Scope 3 emissions analysis
An in-depth study has identified and quantified the main sources of scope 3 * emissions associated with our business sector. These sources include:
- Employee commuting;
- Business travel;
- Digital footprint;
- Hardware purchases;
- Use of personal vehicles for business trips;
- Office supplies and consumables;
- Telework;
- Residual waste management.
Alongside this assessment, the scope 3 * emissions analysis has enabled us to target the actions needed to reduce our carbon footprint across the firm's value chain over the coming years. The firm has also drawn up an ambitious action plan to reduce gradually its operational CO2 emissions in the short, medium, and long terms.

Scopes are categories used to classify the different sources of greenhouse gas emissions associated with a company’s carbon footprint:
- Scope 1 : Direct emissions produced by the company and resulting from the use of fossil fuels in its operations.
- Scope 2 : Indirect emissions generated by the consumption of electricity required for its operations.
- Scope 3 : Indirect emissions arising from the supply chain and resources required to carry out company activities. These are related to commuting, business travel, digital footprint, and the purchase of information technology and office equipment. They also include the use of personal vehicles for business travel, telework, and residual waste management.
