Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes is committed to low-carbon construction using wood
In 2025, Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes adopted a new sustainable development policy and an ambitious action plan. As a player in the construction sector and a committed corporate citizen, the firm’s mission is to incorporate responsible practices into its design projects, internal operations, and community support.
In line with its new policy, the firm had already joined the Low-Carbon Construction with Wood (CBCB) coalition in fall 2025. This Cecobois initiative mobilizes professionals and owners to decarbonize their projects by building with more wood, a local and renewable resource. In becoming a signatory, Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes committed to further develop the skills of its team, strengthen internal workshops on material life-cycle analysis, raise awareness of intrinsic carbon among clients and collaborators, and share lessons learned from its low-emission projects. For the expansion of its own offices, the firm aimed to build wood at a cost comparable to that of a concrete structure.
Decarbonizing the construction sector requires a collective commitment to generate real and lasting impact on the future of the built environment. Given the importance of climate-change resilience, the firm welcomes the collaborative and structured approach of the CBCB initiative, which actively helps reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by promoting an abundant resource in Quebec.
