Presentation of the 1st Jury Prize at the 32nd edition of the exhibition-encan L'Objet
Supporting the next generation of architects is a priority for the firm, and for several years now Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes has been involved in partnership activities with Quebec university architecture programs. As an associate partner in the selection and presentation of the jury's 1st prize, the firm renewed its support for the 32nd edition of the exhibition-encan L'Objet by architecture students from Université Laval, held on March 22 at the Musée de la Civilisation in Quebec City.
It was Alice Desmeules-Caron and Daniel Di Bacco's "Ô pas de course" project that caught the eye of our internal selection committee for the originality of the concept, the sustainable approach to "upcycling", the quality of execution and the interesting response to the 2024 edition's theme: "l'Objet est mort, vive l'Objet!". A refreshing idea to give an object a new life with as little transformation as possible, considering the real challenge of recycling shoes — and especially running shoes, which have a limited lifespan depending on the mileage covered. With "Ô pas de course", the shoe becomes a bag, and there's the very practical aspect of being able to place it on the ground, in the street or on the metro/bus without dirtying or contaminating the bag and its contents. We love the nod to the active lifestyle and sustainable mobility!
Congratulations to the winners!
