Lucie Bégin joined the firm in 2000 equipped with a specialized portfolio of institutional and healthcare projects. As a project manager and principal designer, Lucie plays a key role in the development of healthcare projects for Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes, focusing on the elaboration of complex Integrated Cancer Centers. Her responsibilities encompass both the design process and project management throughout the development of a project from the initial conceptual phase through the elaboration of construction documentation and specifications. Her approach is rooted in active listening, respecting the particular needs of each client and promoting a collaborative working environment with all the project participants. With her excellent knowledge of operational and functional methods within hospitals, as well as the their management framework, Lucie has developed a strong capacity to synthesize complex programs through a proactive attitude that easily instills a sense of confidence in the work developed by the team of professionals together with the client and their representatives. She manages the evolution of projects with great rigour, respecting functional programs, project timelines and deadlines as well as established budgets, all the while maintaining a high level of quality in the work produced. Having acquired an aptitude for conceptual work, her design values are focused on creating refined spaces that promote a sense of calm and ultimately producing healing environments. Her education and background in landscape architecture can be seen through the integration of therapeutic gardens in her projects. These gardens promote the creation of healing environments while establishing a further sense of connection between architecture and landscape. Her participation in regional and international conferences ensures that she is current on the latest technologies and architectural advancements within the healthcare sector.
Her recent accomplishments include the New hospital complex on the site of the Hôpital de l'Enfant-Jésus in Québec City, where she was responsible for the design of the most important integrated cancer center in Quebec, the Regional integrated Cancer Center at the Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis for which she was the principal designer, the major expansion and modernization project of the CHU Sainte-Justine titled « Growing Up Healthy », a project which garnered a Silver LEED certification for which JLP was the lead architectural firm and Lucie was the designer responsible for the medical imaging sector, and the Critical Care Pavillion at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, where she was the designer responsible for the hemodynamics department as well as the hybrid operating rooms. She has also held the role of manager for the Clinical and Infrastructural Master Plan developed for the transformation of the Hôpital Notre-Dame of the CSSS Jeanne-Mance, and participated in the realisation of multiple cancer centers such as the one at the Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé in Laval, the Jewish General Hospital and the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont.
