Volunteering for Moisson Montreal : thank you to our team
During this National Volunteer Week, our team has just completed a series of volunteer activities at Moisson Montreal.
Eight groups totalling 84 people from our firm participated in half-days of volunteer work at Moisson Montreal this year, which took place on Friday mornings from January 15 to April 23. These eight volunteer sessions represent a final donation of 252 hours of work, or a donation equivalent to $25 000. The teams helped with the various daily tasks of this warehouse, which centralizes food donations and redistributes them to community organizations: handling pallets, repackaging "not-so-good" frozen vegetables, preparing boxes of non-perishable foodstuffs or labeling cans.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Moisson Montreal has donated more than $105 000 000 worth of food to Montreal organizations, other Moisson and food banks in Canada, 42% more than at the same time last year. Each month, 567 317 requests for food aid are filled through accredited organizations, 444 506 meals and snacks are served and 68 237 people are beneficiaries of the emergency food program, 35.2% of whom are children.
